Gotta love the iPad. It does everything that a normal computer would do, at least for most of us. Kinda makes one wonder why you even need a computer if you have an iPad, right? It is nice to be able to connect your iPad to you home computer to back up all you photos, music and files. But do you need to connect you iPad to your computer if you want to update it’s iOS system software? Nope.
So here is how you update your iPad without a computer. Pretty easy. Ready?
1. Look for the icon on your iPad that looks like gear and is called “Settings.” If you see a red “1” in the upper right corner of the “Settings” icon that means your iPad probably needs updating.
2. Once you are in the Settings, you are now looking on the left column for the section called “General.” Touch it.
3. Then you will see on the right side a section called “Software Update.” Touch that button.
4. Under the “Software Update” screen you will see the familiar Gear icon with the description of the newest iOS software version. Under that you will see a button called “Download and Install.” Touch that button.
Once you touch the “Download and Install” button you will need to confirm that you’ve read Apple’s terms and conditions. And who amongst us hasn’t, right?
That’s pretty much it. Pretty simple process. Just a few button touches a little white lie and you are on your way to a shiny new updated iOS operation system. Of course you can also do this process while it’s connected to your computer, but that isn’t always convenient. Either way the same updates occur so you don’t have to feel like you are missing anything.
The newest version of Apple’s iOS allows you to set up the iPad without ever connecting to a computer. Knowing that, it makes an iPad a much better alternative to one of those boxy desktop computers or those hot temperature bulky laptops.
